Okay, let’s get right into how to make these cute treats to add to your ultimate shark party!
Makes 8 servings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Chill time: 4 hours
Ingredients
- 1 6 ounce package berry blue Jello
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup cold water
- Gummy sharks (I got mine at Dollar Tree)
- Small serving cups (I got mine at Dollar Tree)

Instructions
Getting the Jell-O to set just right can be a bit tricky, but don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. First, make sure to dissolve the Jell-O thoroughly in hot water. Stir it until all the powder is completely dissolved before adding the cup of cold water. When you pour the Jell-O mixture into the clear cups, make sure they’re at room temperature—this helps the Jell-O set evenly. Continue stirring until well mixed.

Place one gummy shark in the bottom of each cup.

Then pour the Jell-O over the top.

Place the cups in the refrigerator to chill. After around one hour, when the gelatin is soft-set, remove the cups and place one to two more sharks on top of the cups.

Return the cups to the refrigerator to chill for at least three more hours before serving.
And that’s it! A super simple shark snack.
FAQ
Can I make these Shark Jello Cups ahead of time?
Yes, you can! These treats need to chill for at least four hours, so making them the day before your event is a great idea.
Where can I find gummy sharks?
I got mine at Dollar Tree, but you can find them at most candy stores or online.
Can I use a different type of candy?
Absolutely! Swedish Fish or any ocean-themed gummies work great as well.
What if I don’t have the blue Jell-O?
While the classic berry blue Jell-O is a hit, you can always switch things up with different flavors. Try using a tropical punch or even a lime Jell-O for a different shade of blue or green. These flavors still give you that ocean vibe but offer a little variety.
How can I jazz up the cups even more?
Get creative with your Shark Jello Cups! You can add a dollop of Cool Whip or whipped cream on top to create the look of sea foam. For a fun twist, sprinkle some graham cracker crumbs or crushed Nilla Wafers on top to resemble sand.
What if I can’t find the shark gummies?
Other ocean-themed gummy candies or Swedish Fish can also work!
What if I don’t want so much sugar?
If you’re mindful of sugar intake, consider using sugar-free Jell-O. It tastes just as good and helps keep the treats a bit healthier. Remember, the gummy sharks add their own sweetness, so the sugar-free option balances things out nicely.
What if my kid has allergies?
Always check the gummy shark candy packaging for potential allergens. Some brands may contain traces of nuts or other allergens. If you have kids with dietary restrictions, look for allergy-friendly gummies or opt for other decorations that are safe for everyone.
