Patriotic Chocolate Covered Oreo Ingredients

Making your own chocolate covered Oreos for your next party couldn’t be simpler. That’s because you only need a handful of ingredients to prepare them. To make your own patriotic treats, you’ll need:

Double Stuf Oreos. When making Oreo pops, it’s important that you use Double Stuf Oreos instead of regular Oreos. The extra filling inside the double stuffed cookies will give your sucker sticks plenty of space to keep the cookies from breaking.

Red and white chocolate. To give your Oreos a patriotic look, you’ll need to add some patriotic colors! Start with a coating of white chocolate to cover the cookies, then decorate with red melting chocolate.

Patriotic sprinkles. The finishing touch to these cute summer treats is red, white, and blue sprinkles. You can use any style of sprinkles you want to add a fun decoration to each of your cookies.

Paper straws. Turn your chocolate covered cookies into cute cookie pops with some colorful paper straws. Use red, white, and blue straws to add a patriotic look to your treats.

How Do I Make Patriotic Chocolate-Covered Oreos?

You won’t believe how easy these chocolate covered cookies are to prepare. In fact, there’s no baking involved in this simple recipe! All you have to do is follow these easy steps to create some cute cookie pops for your next summer party.

Before you can start decorating your Oreos, you’ll need to add the paper straw sticks to each cookie. Start by cutting the straws in half to shorten the sticks. Then, pinch one end of the straw between your fingers to flatten it. After that, you can carefully slide the flattened end of the straw into the icing in the center of your Oreos.

Once you have all your sticks added, it’s time to start dipping. Melt the white chocolate according to the package instructions. Dip the Oreo into the chocolate and lift it out of the chocolate with a fork.

Lightly tap the handle of the fork on the side of the bowl to remove the extra chocolate, then transfer the coated cookie to a piece of parchment paper to harden.

After all the white chocolate coating has hardened, you can start decorating your patriotic cookies. You’ll need to work quickly during this step of the process, so make sure you have your sprinkles ready to go!

Melt the red chocolate according to the package instructions, then transfer it to a piping bag. Cut the tip off the bag and drizzle red chocolate over the top of the cookies. Immediately top the red chocolate with sprinkles, making sure to add the decorations before the chocolate hardens.

When all the cookies are decorated, allow them to sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes to 1 hour to ensure the chocolate is fully hardened, then enjoy!

How Long Will Chocolate Covered Oreos Keep?

Once you have your cookies coated in chocolate, it’s best to serve them immediately. The longer they sit, the more likely your decorations will begin to crack, or the sprinkles will fall off.

If you don’t plan on serving your cookies right away, I would suggest leaving off the decorations. That way, you can prep the chocolate covered Oreos in advance and decorate them when you’re ready to serve them.

Oreos coated in chocolate will stay good for up to three weeks without decorations. Make sure to store them in an airtight container for best results.

If you stack your cookies inside the container, place a piece of parchment paper between each layer to keep the cookies from sticking together.

Can I Store Chocolate Covered Oreos in the Refrigerator?

Another way to store your chocolate-coated cookies is in the refrigerator. This is a great option if your kitchen is hot or humid, which could cause the chocolate on the outside of the cookies to soften and melt.

When storing the cookies in the fridge, place them in an airtight container with a piece of parchment paper between each layer.

To keep the cookies from sweating when you take them out of the refrigerator, transfer them to the countertop to warm to room temperature around 30 minutes before you plan to serve them. Make sure to keep the lid on the container as the cookies warm up to keep the warm air in the room from coming into contact with the cold cookies, which causes condensation.
