Baby Registry Newborn and Toddler Finds

Looking for the best newborn and toddler finds for your registry?

As a first time mom, it’s impossible to know what you should put on your baby registry. I remember being completely overwhelmed with no clue where to start or how to narrow down what I actually needed.

There are items you need to help with the newborn stage, the crawling stage, to the toddler stage, and so on.

However, I found a core group of items to be relevant from newborn to toddler stage, and all items can be found on Amazon.

I’ve been a mom now for three years now. Although it will differ for everyone, I firmly believe certain newborn and toddler finds are universal in that these baby registry items will last throughout several stages of your child’s life.

So, I want to offer you some helpful perspective on items that we still used for three years. Let’s get into it! Let’s check out the top newborn and toddler finds in your registry!

Bath thermometer

This cute little BPA-free bath thermometer helped ease my mama anxiety. The 1st month of my son’s life, we did not have the thermometer, and I constantly worried about whether the bath water was too hot or too cold. Hand-testing water isn’t really the best method. As an adult, I can handle much hotter water than I can as a child. This little gadget takes the guesswork out of bath time and doubles as a bath toy.

It will put your mind at ease and get the bath to the perfect temperature. I’m sure it will vary for each child, but mine likes his bath at around 95-98 degrees Fahrenheit (it also measures in Celsius).

Here are some highlights about it:

  • It’s safe and accurate! It gives accurate digital temperature readings that update every 10 seconds.
  • There is a color coded indicator.  Alongside precise temperature readings, when used in water the thermometer features a red indicator light for when the water is too hot and a green indicator light for when the water is too cool
  • You can use it outside of water, as well. It reads room temperatures, and can be placed in near your baby,This is perfect for making adjustments to your central thermostat and ensuring that your baby’s environment is kept at a good temperature

Sound Machine

A sound machine helps drown out other noises, too. So if you are trying to get things done around the house while the baby naps, they are less likely to wake up from the noises you make. My son still falls asleep to the rain sounds from his sound machine, plus the adjustable light acts as a nightlight.

My favorite brand is the Hatch. The hatch is great because you can do everything from an app on your phone. You can adjust the volume, change the sound theme, turn the light up or down, change the color of the light, set timers, program your timers. If you have more than one hatch product, you can consolidate it into one Hatch app, making it super convenient. We have the Hatch Rest changing table as well.

Initially, I got the Hatch Rest, but I regret not getting the Rest+. The Hatch Rest+ has everything the Rest does, plus a 2-way audio monitor and a clock. I feel like the Hatch Rest+ option is an excellent option to grow with my baby.

Here is 10% off

Otherwise, you can click here to get it off of Amazon.

Hatch Rest Baby Sound Machine, Night Light | 2nd Gen | Sleep Trainer, Time-to-Rise Alarm Clock, White Noise Soother, Music & Stories for Nursery, Toddler & Kids Bedroom (Wi-Fi)

If you go to a lot of places, a portable sound machine you can strap to a stroller or car seat is a good idea, too.

You could also do a sound machine app for travel! If I don’t pack the Hatch, I use the paid version of the app “Sleep Sounds”.

Another awesome idea for road trips is using Spotify. If you search “sound machines” a bunch of options come up. It goes throughout the whole car and works like a charm.

Burt’s Bees Washcloths and Towels

I adore Burt’s Bees Baby Line. Specifically, their bath line. Their towels and washcloths are so soft, organic, and the perfect size for your child. Not only are the items soft, but absorbent.

Both washcloths and towels are really great quality, too. After almost two years of using them on a weekly basis, they are still going strong and holding up very well.

Also this brand’s products are perfect for after swimming lessons or the beach!

Oh and not to mention, they are made to be gentle on sensitive skin.

Car Organizer

A car organizer is a lifesaver while on the road. I use it to store Snacks, Bottles,Toys, pacifiers, hand sanitizer, and baby wipes, and an emergency towel for when my toddler spills all the things I know he will spill lol.

Although you will probably have a diaper bag along with you, too, this is such a convenient option to quickly grab something you need.

It’s also Portable and Easy to Clean with pockets along the side for even more storage. I keep mine on the floor by my son’s car seat, but you can attach directly to your car seat with the adjustable buckle.

Another perk is if you want to bring the car organizer in with you, you just pull the flap over and zip it up! It’s great for road trips or long periods of time spent in the car. You’ll want to pop this bad boy on your Baby Registry asap!

A Car seat

You will obviously need a car seat.

Two things to note here:

  • Make sure a base comes with your car seat.
  • Check the rules at the hospital you’ll be giving birth at.

Some hospitals will not let you leave unless you are using an infant car seat. Others will allow you to use a convertible car seat. It will vary with each hospital.

We registered for both type of car seats just to be safe. We used his infant car seat until about 8 months, and then switched him to the convertible car seat. The infant car seat you will be able to take with you places, and the convertible car seat stays in the vehicle.

We got the Maxi Cosi brand for both infant and convertible. The infant car seat was Maxi Cosi Mico 30 Infant Car Seat. It did the trick. The convertible car seat we got was the Maxi Cosi Pria All-In-1, and our toddler really likes it. He’s been using it for over two years now, and it’s growing with him perfectly.

I love them both, however, if you want to save some money, these options also work great! EvenFlo and Graco also have really great infant car seats that are a little over $100 each.

Fitted sheets

Get plenty of these. Your child will spit up, drool, and have blow outs in his crib, so having more than a couple fitted sheets on hand is necessary. There are so many cue ones to choose from, but my favorite fitted sheets are from Burt’s Bees. they are unbelievably soft.

 FridayBaby Essentials

This is a no-brainer baby registry item. The kit is so practical, and tackles baby snot, gas relief, nail clipping and scaly skin. Three out of the four items that come with the FridaBaby kit we still use often. The “flakes” and “claws” we use on a weekly basis, and the “snot” we have sadly used a lot this winter, but always when he has a runny nose.

The FridaBaby Essentials kit includes:

  • 1 NoseFrida the SnotSucker, a cult favorite natural, hygienic baby booger buster. 4 disposable hygiene filters, which by the way are clinically proven to prevent the transfer of mucus or bacterial germs to the snot sucker when clearing stuffy noses.
  • 5 single-use Windi the GasPasser, instant, natural gas relief. My husband swore he would NEVER use this. Oh, he used them. All four of them lol. When your kid is screaming and won’t calm down from gas pains, this is such a huge help relieving your baby. Essentially, it’s a  tube that lets gas escape and calms colic.
  • 1 NailFrida the Snipper Clipper, designed for little fingers with a safety spy hole so you can see where you are clipping. 1 NailFrida S-Curved Nail File, to smoother rough edgers.
  • 1 DermaFrida the SkinSoother, a silicon baby bath brush to keeps baby’s skin healthy and flake free. I love using this to wash my child’s hair and to do a quick scrub down of the body.

We got the FridaBaby’s Baby Basics Kit. It comes with a snot sucker, gas passers, baby nail clippers and nail file, and a skin soother. We used EVERYTHING, including the gas passer, which we swore we would never use. When you’re desperate, you’re desperate, though!

My baby came out with some major claws, dry skin, tummy issues, and we used EVERYTHING in this kit within the 1st two months. The skin soother was great to put shampoo on and scrub his head.

Car seat mirror

The back seat mirror really helps with a new mom’s anxiety while driving. Being able to look back at your baby and see what he is doing and that he is safe, really helps relieve worry while driving.

It’s so cute, because the older your baby gets, the more your cutie pie will watch and talk to you through the mirror.

I actually recommend getting a few. One that is compact and easy to throw in your car, a jogger (if you run/hike/do lots of outdoorsy activities), and one that grows with the family. The three I swear by are UppaBaby Vista2, UppaBaby Mini, and Baby Jogger City Mini gt2.

The UPPABaby Vista2 is a luxury stroller. It grows with your family from newborn all the way through multiple kids…from bassinet, to single stroller, to double stroller. Plus, it’s such high quality. I love the UPPABaby brand.

We also got the UPPAbaby Minu for a compact stroller, and may be my favorite purchase for our child. You can literally sling the stroller over your shoulder when you aren’t using it to carry around. It folds up super small, and can fit anywhere in your car, including your front seat. Heck, it’s so compact, you could even dry with it on your lap…although I don’t recommend it.

I also highly recommend the City Select brand for a jogger. Also, if you have multiple kids, I HIGHLY recommend their double stroller, but I digress.

This stroller provides uncompromising agility on any terrain because of it’s forever-air rubber tires that will never go flat and all-wheel suspension.
