With the help of a specialized candy mold, you can make your own chocolate mustaches with just a few minutes of prep work and a handful of ingredients.

DIY Father's Day Gift - prep

To prepare your homemade chocolate treats, start by melting your chocolate. You can use any type of chocolate to prepare these easy candies, so pick Dad’s favorite variety and start melting!

We used melting wafers because they’re simple to prepare and taste great.

DIY Father's Day Gift - Step 1

If you’re planning on mixing other treats into your chocolate, like chopped nuts, add the ingredient before you start pouring the chocolate into the mold. If you’re not a fan of nuts, you can leave them out. Or keep reading for more mix-in ideas at the bottom of the post!

Once you have your chocolate prepared, pour it into your mustache molds. Work slowly and carefully to keep from over-filling your molds. If too much chocolate is added to the mold, it will overflow and create a mess. While the chocolate is still warm, add a sucker stick to the back of each mustache.

Now that you have your chocolate in the molds, all you have to do is wait for it to harden. You can leave the molds sitting out at room temperature for around one hour. Or place it in the refrigerator to speed up the cooling process.

When the chocolate is cooled and hardened, carefully pop the chocolate mustaches out of the mold. Place one in a clear plastic treat bag and tie the bag closed with a piece of ribbon.

DIY Father's Day Gift - Step 3

To finish decorating your candy Father’s Day gift, print out the gift tag on card stock and cut it out around the outer border.

Then, fold the card in half and glue the two sides together to create a two-sided card. Use a hole punch to place a hole in the corner of the card and attach it to the treat bag with a bow.

How To Enhance This Father’s Day Gift Idea

Once you see just how simple this DIY Father’s Day gift idea is to make, you’re going to want to put it together for all the men in your life this Father’s Day! And with the help of these fun gift ideas, you can create some adorable presents to pass out to everyone on the big day.

  • Try different mix-ins. Chopped nuts are a great way to add a salty crunch to the chocolate treats. But if you’re not a fan of nuts, there are a few other mix-ins you could add to create some delicious treats for Dad. Try adding chopped toffee bits, small pieces of caramel, peanut butter chips, or mini M&Ms.
  • Leave off the sucker sticks. Adding a stick makes these chocolate mustaches super fun to eat. But if you don’t have any on hand, you can simply leave them off. Add the chocolate treats to a box and top it with the printable gift tag to create a cute gift for dad without the sticks.
  • Use premade candy. Don’t have time to make your own chocolate mustaches at home? Simply purchase store-bought candy to add to your gift. You can use any type of candy mustache to create this fun gift idea.
  • Skip the candy altogether. While this adorable gift tag pairs perfectly with chocolate, it’s not the only gift you can attach it to! Any type of beard or mustache-related gift will work with this funny tag, making it perfect for Father’s Day. Try attaching the double sided tag to a mustache comb, beard grooming kit, or package of fake mustaches.

What is the Best Paper to Print a Gift Tag on?

Using printable gift tags to decorate your DIY Father’s Day gift is a great way to personalize your present.

On top of helping you save a little money, free gift tags are also unique decorations that you can add to any gift.

But in order to make your printed gift tags look their best, you need the right materials! To start, a color printer is essential in printing gift tags at home. After that, you’ll also need quality paper when making your tags.

The best type of paper to use when printing gift tags at home is cardstock. It’s best to use cardstock that ranges from 65 to 80 lbs to make your cards look amazing. Any lighter and the cards may fall apart. But if your cardstock is too thick, it could cause your printer to jam.
